A rapidly increasing body of data suggests an essential role of the endothelium in the normal function of the hole cardiovascular system , and consequently a major role of endothelial dysfunction in most cardiovascular diseases, sucha as atherosclerosis, pulmonary hypertension, erectile dysfunction, .... The treatment of this endothelial dysfunction presents a major challenge to the pharmaceutical industry, challenge going from aspects of drug delivery, to drug efficacy and to potential new therapeutic fields such as endothelial progenitor cells.

Professor Enric Domingo is the Full Professor of Physiology at the Medical College of the University of Barcelona, Spain. He is also the Co-founder and Co-director of the Hypertension Pulmonary Unit of the Hospital General Universitari Vall Hebron, Barcelona, Spain. Besides, he is also the Consultant Cardiologist of the Lung Department of the Hospital General Universitari Vall Hebron, Barcelona, Spain. There are about 90 scientific contributions to his credit. He was the principal investigator on a number of grants. He also has participated in many of the pulmonary hypertension multicentric international trials.
