UKRAIN based Laser Therapy in Oncology
Frank Andrae

The semisynthetic drug UKRAIN is used as immune stimulating as well as highly effective anticancer agent. We tested this very unusual double mechanism of action. First, UKRAIN was administered at increasing dosage to non-cancer patients with rheumatic diseases or high susceptibility to infections. In the lymphocytes from both patients groups and from a control group, expression of IgG, proliferation marker Ki-67 as well as of other marker molecules was checked.

There were no significant changes in the control group whereas in the UKRAIN group the expression of IgG and Ki-67 increased significantly. Further increase of marker expression was achieved using additional intravasal low-level laser therapy.

Circulating tumor cells from cancer patients were incubated with UKRAIN. Patients with confirmed selective high grade tumor accumulation of UKRAIN were treated with UKRAIN alone or with UKRAIN plus laser. The tumor mass reduction was achieved in both groups but in the combined group this effect was more pronounced.
Now we know UKRAIN is a photo modulating agent. In the last two years the UKRAIN based laser therapy evolved into a highly effective cancer treatment.
