Rheumatoid Arthritis and Gold(I) Drugs

Mayocrisin is is a gold based medicine
commonly prescribed for arthritis patents. Gold(I) thiomalate (AuStm)n
exists as a polymer in the solid state as well as in solution. With
its chain structure it may have a capacity, to react with disulfides
and diselenides in addition to doing so with thiols and selenols in
human.
What are the possible reactions in the blood when this drug is being
used for the treatment of the arthritis? Some possible answers will
be presented in the seminar.
