A variety of Japanese apricot, PrunusmumeSieb.etZucc,
known in Japan as ume, has been believed to be a rich source of
healthy substances. MK615 is an extract derived from ume and
contains several triterpenoids and other unknown substances. Accumulating
evidence indicates that MK615 exerts an anti-cancer effect by inducing
apoptosis and autophagy, and suppressing Aurora kinases A and B
and accumulate cells in G2-phase of cell-cycle. Also, MK615 also
exerts an anti-inflammatory effect.
Ume is a rich source of anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory
substances. MK615 may therefore be a promising new avenue for the
treatment of cancer and inflammation.
